This engagement session was a DREAM! A beautiful Lincoln, Nebraska, midsummer’s night fairytale came true when I had the opportunity to capture MacKenzie and Nick’s engagement pictures in the Sunken Gardens this past June. The flowers were full of blooms, and though we weren’t alone, MacKenzie and Nick acted as if they were the only two in the world, and I was just happy to be able to capture the magic that ensued that gorgeous evening!
It’s on every girls’ mind, really, because you’re not exactly sure when it actually happened. You know what I’m talking about. The moment when your best guy friend becomes a little bit more than your friend. It was never planned, but you somewhere along the line began seeing him as your boyfriend…then your fiance…and then your husband. He’s the one who makes your heart stop, laugh uncontrollably, and just plain gets you like no one else. And then before you realized it, you included him in all your big future moments. Like getting engaged, married, and buying your first home for instance. You held onto your feelings in private for quite some time because what were the odds your feelings would actually be reciprocated?! AND THEN IT HAPPENED. The night you’ve been thinking about for years. The second your huge crush finally found his manly courage and shared the same thoughts you’ve been thinking and the same feelings you’ve been feeling before making it official with a kiss totally movie worthy. (CUE FIREWORKS!–Or wait, is that only in Disney movies?)
Ok, let’s back up.
Now I’m not saying this is exactly what happened between MacKenzie and Nick, but I mean, it’s gotta be somewhat close?! After all, they first met when they were under ten years old, went to high school together, and then attended the same college for four years, but it wasn’t until AFTER college that they started dating!! CRAZY! To build that strong of a foundation built on complete friendship for that many years is pretty outstanding and is just one of many reasons why I know this couple is going to last!
MacKenzie and Nick, I love you guys, and thank you so much for frolicking through this beautiful not-so-secret garden and letting me capture it! You are both naturals behind the camera, and let your love shine through in every shot. I hope you take these pictures and treasure them for many years to come, and I can’t wait to be a guest at your wedding this coming April!
