I first met Sofia and Joey at the Cattlemen’s Ball in Columbus, Nebraska, this past June. A country couple after my own heart, I connected with them straight off the bat! When Joey reached out to me about proposing to his girlfriend of over four years mid-session, I was ALL IN! Surprise proposals and engagement sessions are some of my most favorite to shoot, so I had a blast brainstorming with him about the best way to strategically make it happen, while not letting Sofia suspect a thing!
The Proposal
As the hot August afternoon came, Joey was cool as a cucumber. The plan was to randomly come across a cow outside the pen on his family’s farm, and Sofia would help him put it back. He wrote “Marry Me?” on the cow’s bright ear tag (He was a tame one!), but like most plans when animals are involved, the cow did not quite cooperate right away. Joey took initiative and adjusted to the circumstances, and the result was magical. Sofia said “Yes!” just as the most beautiful light streamed behind them as he was down on one knee!
I mean, talk about meant-to-be! And the best part? She had no idea it was coming!
Sofia and Joey, you guys were downright made for each other. I had such a blast capturing this special moment in your lives, as well as some engagement photos as well! I wish you the best as you plan for your wedding and the wide open future that lies ahead of you! And Joey, I knew you were a smart one! Way to put a ring on the one girl that thoroughly loves to check pens with you! As someone who grew up in the cattle industry, I know for a fact it takes a special lady indeed!
Enjoy this time of anticipation and excitement you two and try not to wish it away too soon! Congratulations!
